It is with typical reflection and humility that Helena has made the decision to step away from the TAP committee having given over enough of her time and energy and as a way of catalysing change. She has asked that no fuss is made about her departure.
Interestingly the word fuss means: ‘a display of unnecessary or excessive excitement’. My intention then is to acknowledge in a measured way the work and dedication to TAP that Helena has shown unwaveringly, not least because the current pandemic appears to be on her side in removing any opportunity to gather and do so in person. Helena has been a member of TAP for 15 years, taking roles as Treasurer, Co-chair and Chair during that time and managing numerous talks, workshops and conferences alongside the, at times seemingly insurmountable, challenges of dealing with banks and other administrative necessities. As someone who doesn’t particularly like speaking in front of an audience Helena used her skills in engaging people one to one and as such I believe for many people the face of TAP will never be the same. |
